European Union 20th sanctions package against Russia includes full ban on oil transport services

The 20th sanctions package against Russia, adopted today by the European Union, предусматривает возможность введения полного запрета на оказание морских транспортных услуг, связанных с российской нефтью и нефтепродуктами, со стороны Совета ЕС.
According to a statement by the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the new measures will expand restrictions on Russia’s so called “shadow fleet,” with an additional 46 vessels to be added to sanctions lists.
The plans also include limiting Russia’s ability to acquire tankers for this fleet, as well as restricting services provided to Russian icebreakers and tankers used for transporting liquefied natural gas.
The EU will also introduce new export restrictions on goods used to strengthen Russia’s military industry, along with import restrictions on products generating significant revenue for Russia. Broadcasting bans will also apply to entities that continue to distribute content from sanctioned media outlets.
“Another 60 companies will be added to the list of military end users and organizations involved in sanctions evasion. For the first time, an anti circumvention mechanism will be introduced, allowing the prohibition of exports to third countries that re export certain goods to Russia,” the press release states.
Additionally, 117 individuals and legal entities linked to Russia, including those from the oil, energy, and defense sectors, as well as companies in third countries assisting in sanctions evasion or supporting the operation of the “shadow fleet,” will be added to the sanctions lists.
