Erdogan says decision to hold congress in Baku not coincidental

The decision to mark the 100th anniversary of the First Turkology Congress in Baku is not coincidental, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said in a message addressed to participants of the Turkic World Week dedicated to the centenary of the 1926 congress.
Erdogan said Azerbaijan continues to contribute to strengthening the cohesion and effectiveness of the Turkic world.
He noted that the topics discussed at the First Turkology Congress have remained relevant for the Turkic world over time.
"The First Turkology Congress played an important role in shaping a common sense of history, language, and culture among Turkic peoples. Preserving, strengthening, and passing on the ideals inherited from the congress to future generations is a shared responsibility of the entire Turkic world," Erdogan said.
He also emphasized the importance of unity and friendship among Turkic states in the present day.
