Large warehouse fire breaks out in Lokbatan, firefighting efforts continue

A major fire broke out at one of the large warehouses located in the Lokbatan settlement of Baku’s Garadagh district early on May 12.
According to Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Emergency Situations, information about the incident was received through the ministry’s “112” hotline, after which firefighting forces were immediately dispatched to the scene.
A total of 182 personnel, around 40 units of equipment and two helicopters of the ministry’s aviation detachment have been involved in the firefighting operation. Deputy Chief of the State Fire Protection Service, Colonel Taleh Babayev, said that windy weather conditions complicated efforts to extinguish the blaze.
The ministry stated that the spread of the fire over a wider area has been prevented and the situation has been brought under control. Operations to fully extinguish the fire are currently ongoing. Rescuers are also removing goods from the warehouse and transporting them to a safe area. Nearby warehouses have been protected from the fire.
Minister of Emergency Situations, Colonel General Kamaladdin Heydarov, is also at the scene of the incident.
According to TABIB, no injuries had been reported as of 09:30 on May 12. Emergency medical teams have been deployed to the area.
